Course Overview
The Farm Real Estate as a Professional Career Course is administered on behalf of the Saskatchewan Real Estate Commission (SREC). The course provides part of the registration education requirements for those who wish to become a licensed registrant as a salesperson in Saskatchewan, and is designed to provide an introduction to the unique knowledge and skills required for real estate professionals specializing in farm properties. This blended learning course allows you to register at any time. While the course is flexible in order to meet the needs of busy adult learners, students will need to keep in mind the specific timeline for their chosen education stream.
Students who wish to trade in Farm Real Estate services must first complete and pass the Phase 1: Real Estate as a Professional Career course and examination, then complete and pass the Phase 2: Residential Real Estate as a Professional Career and Phase 2: Farm Real Estate as a Professional Career courses and examinations. Please note that the Phase 1: Real Estate as a Professional Career and Phase 2: Residential Real Estate as Professional Career courses and examinations must be completed within two years of registration in the Phase 1 course. Also note that you have 2 years from the date you purchase your Phase 1 course to become registered with a brokerage of your choice. Phase 2: Farm Real Estate as a Professional Career students have one year from the Course Registration Date to complete the course and exam. In order to register for Farm Real Estate services with the Commission, students must also be registered for Residential Real Estate. Regularly scheduled exams take place at various times throughout the year throughout the province (exams must be written in Canada) and your first written examination registration is included with the course tuition fee.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

Yes, the English Language Proficiency Requirement must be completed prior to examination registration, however if registration is your intention we strongly recommend that you consider satisfying the ELPR prior to course registration. Course Assignment Issues

Depending on the course, students are required to submit and pass multiple choice and written assignments in order to be eligible to register for the final exam. These assignments ensure that students are reviewing the course materials and provide feedback on their level of understanding.
Examination Issues

The Phase 1 and Phase 3 Course Examinations are three hours in length and contain 100 questions in a multiple choice format, each worth one mark. All Phase 2 Examinations will be two hours in length and contain 60 questions in a multiple choice format.

Seventy (70) percent is a passing grade. A passing grade sets the minimum level of performance needed to practice in a profession, as determined by the regulatory body. The passing grade needed must be high enough to protect the public but not so high as to unreasonably limit the number of those who wish to practice.

No, this is not true. The pass rate for each sitting of the exam varies, however, the majority of students who write the exam will pass. The UBC Real Estate Division and the Saskatchewan Real Estate Commission do not try to limit the number of students who pass the exam - they are only concerned with the fact that those who do pass the exam have the prerequisite knowledge to be likely to not harm the public.
