Richard is a venture capitalist and recovering entrepreneur. He is currently a Managing Partner with Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital with board responsibilities for Enbala Power Networks, GlassPoint and NanoSteel. He was formally CEO of two UBC spin-off companies, NxtPhase and BrightSide, prior to which he was Engineering Manager for another start-up. Early in his career he worked at a metallurgist on large steam turbine generators for electric power and materials manager on large power transformers. In the classroom Richard aims to bring down to earth real life experience on how to build, finance and exit start-up companies. In his spare him he can be found in the mountains, or helping to organize the Test of Metal, Canada’s largest mountain bike race.
